Ormiston College is pleased to welcome, Mr Michael Hornby, as the fifth Headmaster and Chief Education Officer of Ormiston College. Mr Hornby commenced his appointment in January 2025 following the resignation of former Headmaster, Mr Brett Webster. Mr Hornby was appointed following an extensive and comprehensive search process for a Headmaster who not only possessed a strong academic background but also embodied the core values and ethos of Ormiston College.
Mr Hornby, a highly respected educator, joins Ormiston College from Indooroopilly State High School, a large Independent Public School, where he was serving as the Executive Principal. His reputation as an innovative and visionary educational leader is underpinned by a foundation of strong ethical leadership.
Mr Hornby’s unwavering drive to improve both the educational and wellbeing outcomes of individuals has been evident throughout his distinguished career and he has been recognised with numerous accolades including the prestigious Australian Commonwealth Bank Teaching Fellowship in 2022, the Queensland College of Teachers Award for Leadership Excellence in Teaching and Learning in 2021, and the Harvard Club of Australia Principal Leadership Scholarship in 2020. In 2017, he was also honoured with the Queensland Premier’s Individual Award for Multiculturalism.
