Our Junior School Leaders and House Captains joined 2000 students from schools across Queensland and northern New South Wales at the National Young Leaders Day on Monday 24 February, an event designed to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders.
Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the conference featured motivational speeches from high-profile leaders in various fields, including sports, the arts, and community service. The event aimed to inspire students to serve their school with excellence and to reach their full potential as leaders by encouraging them to strive to reach their own personal goals.
One of the highlights of the day was hearing from Australia’s 28th Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, who encouraged students to believe in their values, to be curious and to really listen to others. The Governor-General encouraged the young leaders to embrace their creativity and innovation and emphasised how important it is for young people to share their views.
The students also heard from Brisbane Lions’ Dayne Zorko, Artist and Author Kasey Rainbow and Champion Supercar Driver, Todd Hazelwood.
Our young leaders returned to the College feeling inspired and motivated to better lead themselves and others.
