On Friday 30 July, Ormiston College showcased our entire Choral program from Prep through to Year 12 in Sing! The night evening was filled with choral classics, beautiful ballads and empowering anthems, brought to life by our talented students.
The Ormiston College Kinders kicked off the show with a selection of Australian classics, under the tutelage of Lee Catterall and accompanied by Linda Muller.
This was followed by another Australiana themed performance, this time by the Ormiston College Voices. Voices is made up of students in Years 2 and 3. These young musicians have been working to refine their sound under the tutelage Maree Hall, accompanied in this performance by Claire Brennan.
Next welcomed to the stage were the Ormiston College Singers, made up of students in Years 4, 5 and 6, under the tutelage of Astin Hammermeister, and accompanied by Claire Brennan.
This was followed by a beautiful performance from the Ormiston College Bellas, living up to their name. Bellas consists of female students from Year 7 to Year 12, under the tutelage of Maree Hall, accompanied in their performance by Heather Kim.
Next up on stage were the Ormiston College Redbacks with their ensemble director Craig Atkinson. The Redbacks are made up of male students from Year 7 to 12.
Following this, OCTAVE took the stage to perform For Good from the Tony Award-winning Broadway Musical, Wicked. OCTAVE is a project based vocal ensemble made of students from Bellas and Redbacks.
To conclude the evenings concert, Dean of Music, Jason Taggart, introduced the final performance by Ormiston College Chorale. This core ensemble group is made up of students in Years 7 to 12, under the tutelage of Astin Hammermeister, accompanied in their finale performance by Heather Kim.
The evening was a wonderful celebration of our young musicians.
