Ormiston College has had an outstanding year in the FUSE Cup Brisbane Primary Schools division, securing top honours across all three rounds of the competition. The Federation of United Schools Esports (FUSE) Cup offers young students a safe, supportive and structured environment to compete in esports while promoting positive gaming behaviours and digital wellbeing.
Ormiston College fielded several talented teams across different game categories including Rocket League, Just Dance and Mario Kart.
The competition began with regional qualifiers and saw four Junior School students compete in the Rocket League round. The competition was fierce right to the end, with Jai and Hugo demonstrating poise and teamwork to outplay Cameron and Jenson in an all-OC Grand Final.
In Round 2, the Years 5 and 6 team, comprising Rosa, Milla, Elizabeth and Phoebe, danced their way to victory in the Just Dance division. The team performed consistently throughout the competition to claim the Team Champions title while Rosa clinched the Solo Champion title.
The final round was an exciting Mario Kart showdown where the Ormiston College team of Jenson, Liam, Jawdan and Xavier represented the College admirably. Jenson advanced to the Grand Final from a pool of 44 players and emerged as the Brisbane Primary School Champion.
The students went on to represent Ormiston College at the Queensland State Finals which took place on the Gold Coast in November. The Ormiston College Just Dance Team held off strong competition and secured the Queensland State title while Rosa won the individual competition. The students competing in Mario Kart and Rocket League also performed well to take second place in their respective competitions.
Congratulations to all our young gamers on these amazing results and for representing the College with great skill, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
