This year marks 35 years since the annual Clean Up Australia Day campaign began with over 22 million Australians donating their time to help keep our environment clean over this period.

Students from the Ormiston College Environment Club took action as part of Clean Up Schools Day on Friday 28 February. The initiative, which is part of the national Clean Up Australia campaign, encourages young Australians to take responsibility for their local environment. Led by College Captain Jessica, and members of the Environmental Club, students armed with gloves and rubbish bags, combed the campus grounds to collect any litter found, before the start of school.

Beyond the College campus, two Ormiston College families, along with our Environment Club Coordinator, joined in a community clean up event at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Manly on Sunday 2 March. Their efforts contributed to the national Clean Up Australia Day initiative, the nation's largest community-based environmental event, held annually on the first Sunday in March.

We would lie to thank all the students and families who gave up their time and pulled on their gloves to care for our beautiful part of the world.
