This year, Trimester 2 was a particularly competitive season with several schools making significant gains across sports. However, Ormiston College prevailed and was once again crowned Champion School.
This season has been very memorable for several reasons:
• We played sport. In 2020, we did not get to play due to the coronavirus pandemic.
• The hockey teams were able to play on new playing fields, which would rival any grass fields in Australia.
• The passion, resilience and integrity shown by the students, coaches and coordinators.
• The quality performance of our students.
• The support of families in the outdoor kitchen, organising life schedules around training times and generally promoting sport to their children,.
We value all sports and teams at Ormiston College. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to win a premiership or be a champion. The following teams were able to achieve this:
• Open Boys Cross Country
• Open Girls Cross Country
• 16 Girls Cross Country
• Firsts Hockey
• Year 8 Hockey
• Firsts Boys Tennis
• Thirds Boys Tennis
• Intermediate 3 Boys Tennis
• Year 10B Netball
• Year 7B Netball
It is a big job to organise the many tasks associated with running a TAS sport and a special mention is extended to the following sport coordinators:
• Cross Country – Mr Joel Speranza
• Hockey – Mr David Garnett with Mr Ian Burgess
• Netball – Mrs Samantha Wong
• Rugby – Mr Kris Peterman
• Boys Tennis – Mrs Elaine Gilmour
We now look to Trimester 3. The Redbacks are looking strong for the season ahead.
