In anticipation of the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book of the Year Awards announcement on Friday 19 August 2022, students have been looking at this year’s shortlisted books. This week, students have been reading Walking in Gagudju Country: Exploring the Monsoon Forest written by Diane Lucas, Ben Tyler and illustrated by Emma Long, and First Scientists: Deadly Inventions and Innovations from Australia's First Peoples written by Corey Tutt and illustrated by Blak Douglas, before taking a walk to create nature bracelets.
Learning from the books, time in nature, and noticing the tiny wonders often passed by, is enriching for not only for the mind but also for the spirit.
