On Thursday 14 July, Ormiston College invited past Prefects from 1995 to 2021, as well as current 2022 Prefects, to the 13th Biennial Prefect’s Breakfast. Guests were invited to enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast while connecting and reconnecting with fellow Alumni and members of the OC community.
The event included an engaging and inspiring presentation from Kerry-Lee Gockel (Class of 2001 Prefect), also known as The Wingless Warrior, who spoke about overcoming the challenge of being born without arms to lead an exceptional life, and in particular, the 10km ocean swim she participated in this year to raise money for students who attend Sunshine Coast Special Schools.
Throughout the morning, we also heard from Headmaster Brett Webster, Head of Secondary School Paul Hornibrook, Ormiston College Alumni Association Committee Treasurer Jessica Peters (Class of 2012 College Captain), and 2022 College Captains Hugo and Maya, each sharing a few words and the latest OC news. Year 12 student Ryan McDonald also greeted the crowd with a few tunes upon arrival.
A wonderful feeling of belonging emanated from the gathering as our current Prefects, Alumni and staff members came together to celebrate the occasion. The current College Captains and Prefects mingled with past Captains and Prefects, representing Ormiston College leadership across the decades.
