Ormiston College was incredibly fortunate to host internationally bestselling YA author Amie Kaufman. A science fiction and fantasy genre specialist, Amie launched the Year 8 English unit on ‘Fantastic Worlds’, reflecting on her writing process, world-building, and crafting ideas using a spaceship designer and field trips to NASA. Amie also hosted a writing workshop with students from Years 7, 8 and 9, workshopping story ideas with them from inception, right up to how to pitch to a publisher. The students walked away with a fresh wealth of knowledge and creativity.
Amie’s books continue to fly off the shelves here at OC! It was a privilege to have her visit and work with our students.
