Creating future success.
The senior years are an exciting and challenging time. Ultimately, the senior phase prepares students to be capable and confident young adults who are well prepared to contribute and shape a rapidly changing world. The transformation that occurs in students from the commencement of Year 10 to the conclusion of Year 12, particularly in terms of their ability to think and learn independently, is considerable.
Ormiston College is one of the foremost private high schools in Brisbane. Graduates have a history of significant academic, cultural and sporting success, with more than 95% of senior students gaining entry to university or other tertiary institutions in Queensland, interstate and overseas.
Our Senior School program exposes your child to a wide range of academic, cultural and community experiences, helping them gain the confidence and skills needed to become well-balanced young adults and future leaders.
We equip our students with the knowledge, drive, approachability and empathy to be the best they can be in every aspect of their lives.
Achieving their best
Unique to Ormiston College is our Foundation Studies Program. We are committed to providing Year 10 students with the opportunity to further spark their motivation for learning and for achieving their personal best. By this stage of their schooling journey, many students are craving extension and challenge. Without extension and challenge it is possible for students to coast along, to plateau, and to become complacent with the predictability of the learning experiences.
Foundation Studies provide our Year 10 students with the opportunity for a more connected move into the expectations, standards and intensity of learning at senior level. Without Foundation Studies, many students find Semester 1 of Year 11 the hardest semester of Senior Studies – not because the content of the work is more difficult, but because they are asked to operate at higher levels of learning.
Graduate Outcomes
In 2020, Queensland replaced its university entrance pathway for Year 12 students, from the Overall Position (OP), to that of the Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR), allowing consistency throughout all States in Australia. Ormiston College was delighted with the result of the 2020 cohort who achieved outstanding first-ever ATAR scores. Four students were awarded a score of 99 or higher, 39% received a score of 90 or higher, 79% received scores of 70 or higher.
The results of the graduating Class of 2021 continue Ormiston College’s reputation as one of the best academic performing schools in Queensland. 100% of the cohort achieved an ATAR. More than half (50.5%) the students achieved a score of 90 or higher; Two students were awarded a score of 99 or higher and the median score was 90.05.
